Themes explored during the event include:

  • UK National Quantum Technology Hub for Sensors and Metrology

The UK Government has committed nearly £720 million to ensure the UK continues to perform a lead role in the emerging Quantum Technologies market. The Quantum Technology Hub is five years through a ten year ‘lab to market’ programme. Professor Kai Bongs, DIrector of the Quantum Technology Hub, will speak about this Programme and how businesses can engage and position themselves to be part of this future supply chain.

  • Precision Measurement and Advanced Manufacturing:

In collaboration with the National Physics Laboratory (NPL) and Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), the University of Birmingham is pleased to announce the launch of the Centre for Innovation in Advanced Measurement in Manufacturing (CIAMM) which aims to help SMEs understand and explore the full potential of quantum technologies.

This projects aims to inspire and enable SMEs to develop innovative technology fit for the future, using the full potential of quantum technologies.

  • Science to Industry (S2I) project

The Government’s Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) has developed some of the most sophisticated testing and characterisation equipment available globally, such as imaging equipment which can see through engine blocks and microscopes that can examine material at the atomic scale to equipment that can test the circuitry for satellites.

The University of Birmingham is partnering with the STFC and the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) to offer unprecedented access to their facilities to ensure UK industry maintains its global dominance in manufacturing and R&D capabilities. This is a unique opportunity for SMEs to access cutting-edge facilities and expertise.

Talks will include information about how and when you can access funding and who to contact for individual programmes.
