Once I started studying at the Hub, I realised what a wonderful opportunity it presents to students, as there is so much exposure to people working in industry and other academics. Through the Hub, I undertook research with the National Physical Laboratory and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt.

I have always wanted to work in industry. Being able to apply my research knowledge in a commercial company in a great opportunity. My job as a Scientific Product Specialist at M Squared Lasers entails giving technical advice about lasers to customers pursuing research in atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) physics, and supporting colleagues with technical advice about quantum technology, including atomic clocks.

My experience of researching atomic clocks in labs helped me greatly in finding a job within industry. Studying at the Hub means you have constant interaction with industry partners, so it is a great way to get to know the different companies and what their work is about.
