Today (15 November), Angelo Bassi, Chair of Quantum Technologies in Space (QTSpace), handed over a strategic report on “Quantum Technologies in Space” to the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Commission. The hand over to took place at the ESA’s 2nd Workshop on Quantum Technology.
The report was prepared by a scientific committee of 28 academic and industrial partners and identifies the state of the art and future strategies for the technological development of quantum devices for space applications.
Professor Kai Bongs, Director of the UK National Quantum Technology Hub for Sensors and Metrology, was named in the presentation as having contributed to the Earth Observation part of the new report. Hub members Professor Barry Garraway and Dr Aidan Arnold also contributed to the report’s development as members of the pan-European QTSpace programe.
